Cüneyt Öztürk, Chairman of the Board of Öztürk Findik, introduced their new local product Burella to European viewers on ATV Europe’s “Business World” program. Promoted as the local and national product of Bulancak, Burella, a hazelnut-based product, is preparing to enter the European market.
Success with Giresun Hazelnuts
Stating that he and his brother Ertaç Öztürk started trading hazelnuts in 2000 in the Bulancak district of Giresun, Cüneyt Öztürk explained that over time they established a shell-breaking factory and turned it into an integrated facility. He said the company produces various products such as chocolate with hazelnuts and spreadable cocoa hazelnut cream, and that they continue to work on new products.
Emphasizing that they particularly use Giresun hazelnuts in their products, Öztürk said, “We named our new product Burella, inspired by Bulancak, the largest district of Giresun.”
Rise in Exports and Ambitious Goals
Öztürk stated that their company has focused on export activities especially in the last 2–3 years, with exports increasing significantly each year, and pointed to new partnerships. He mentioned that they started in the German market in Europe and are continuing negotiations with several major retail chains abroad.
He added that they are already the largest supplier of one of Turkey’s top three supermarket chains, and soon European retail chains will also be added to this list, making their products more widely available both online and in stores.
“Our Hazelnut Ratio Is High”
Calling on consumers to try their products, Öztürk emphasized their quality by saying: “Our consumers will clearly feel the intense hazelnut ratio in our production. All the others are on one side, and we are on the other.”
